No favorites for no reason.

It’s really quite weird to think about it. I have favorites for everything, I have a favorite movie and a favorite TV show, a favorite video game and a favorite food, just no favorite wine… oh well to be fair I don’t have a favorite food, that would actually be quite the stretch, there are several. But for wines? I don’t even have several favorite wines, only styles and grape varieties, Riesling and Nebbiolo. Sweet Riesling is my favorite style from the Mosel, dry Riesling is my favorite from the Rheingau, the Rheingau and Mosel are my favorite german regions. G.D. Vajra is my favorite winery in the Barolo area, yet they don’t produce any wine that I would call a favorite. It’s almost annoying when someone comes up to me and asks what my favorite wine is, and then I always have to shut them down because I can’t decide which or what it is. Riesling of course, it would be the perfect answer. But then those people go out of their way and buy a Riesling to show me or drink for themselves, and wonder why it might not be good, yet in the end the reason was just that the whole spectrum of just a grape variety as a favorite was too wide.

Ever since I first watched Konstantin Baum I started to say that my favorite wine was the last thing that I really liked, but even that is a lie. I have highlights, like the Gaja Barbaresco, or the 1971 Borgogno Barolo Riserva that I had with a friend in November, neither of those wines are widely available, nor have I tasted them more often than once… so can I call them a favorite in any way then? Not for me.

I have favorite wineries and I have favorite regions, I have favorite grape varieties and favorite places to be in. I even have favorite specks of dust on the sidewalk infront of my house, yet I cannot decide for the perfect bottle. There is simply too much to choose. For the sake of it, I’ll take the remainder of this week to think about;
You can take one bottle of wine into outer space to take onto a new planet, which would it be? And to make it easier, or probably just harder, we’ll say that the number of bottles doesn’t matter. Not one bottle, but infinite bottles of the same wine, and you drink one bottle every day. What wine would you take, and what would I take?

Who has favorites anyway?
I was absent but the website changed, I bought wine and drank some of it, it was great!
Dayum son, would you really do that?!
